H E L L O !

My name is Maria Căruntu, but people who know my work also call me Mau. I’ve been studying illustration mostly on my own since 2012, and I’ve been drawing for as long as I can remember. Over the years, I’ve worked both as a freelance illustrator and a graphic designer.

What I love most is illustrating children’s books and I’m deeply inspired by the beauty of nature, animals, and people.

I also enjoy hosting drawing workshops for children and adults, where I talk about the artist’s journey and share creative ways to embrace it with openness and joy. I’ve held workshops at festivals such as Sotron Iași, Street Delivery Iași, and the Human Art Symposium in Cucuteni.

Some of my passions include birdwatching, writing, walking in nature, sketching people, and spending time with animals.
I currently live in Cluj, Romania.
